Lexcel TestSystem® CAPSystem™ Helps LINK Find Additional Capacity and Save Money
LINK has always paid particular attention to performance monitoring and capacity planning, balancing the need to provide adequate capacity without over-provision of hardware. Availability and performance of the Switch have been crucial to the success of LINK, and in 2003 LINK received an Availability Award from ITUG, the International HP® Compaq NonStop™ Users Group. The LINK switch is designed to process the peak minute transaction rate in a month with one failed CPU. The peak arrival rate for a month normally occurs around 1:10 PM on the last Friday of the month.
LINK was using HP tools and models to extrapolate from current performance to predict capacity. LINK wanted to test the likely impact of configuration changes, where historic performance data was not relevant, in order to maximize their system capacity and minimize expenditures on additional hardware.
| “Before we had Lexcel TestSystem CAPSystem we could only estimate system capacity based on historic performance data. Now we can really perform stress testing and Lexcel TestSystem CAPSystem has already paid for itself in performance improvements we have identified.” |
