Lexcel®s Triple DES Support Functionality Certified with Federal Standard
The Electronic Funds Transfer industry continues to
increase data security, and electronic payment networks
are changing from the single data encryption (DES)
standard to the Triple DES encryption standard for
protection of personal identification numbers. Triple
DES uses a 32-digit key to encrypt (or scramble) data
and decrypt (or unscramble) data.
The uniqueness of all Lexcel TestSystems® is evident
in the built-in intelligence that enables
the system to communicate in a manner consistent with
each Host or Terminal device to which it is connected.
Complicated Data Encryption Standard routines are presented
to the user in a user-friendly graphical interface
in which, through minimal keying of data and only a
few mouse clicks, the novice to expert tester forms
intricate Triple DES key parts and keys for Key Exchange
and PIN encryption values.
Within the ever-evolving industry of data security,
institutions are not only being progressive in moving
to new technologies such as Triple DES, but are often
mandated to change. Triple DES is rapidly becoming
the EFT industry standard for securing and exchanging
data between Terminals, Host and Processors, and as
such use of a Triple DES enabled Lexcel TestSystem
has become an integral part of making this change in
both a timely and cost efficient manner.
Lexcel has incorporated a platform that accommodates
both modes (single and Triple DES) in a single product.
Configuration of key values is handled through the
standard graphical user interface with wizards and
DES tools for encrypting, decrypting and building key
parts.
The response to this new Lexcel Triple DES functionality
has been immensely successful. MasterCard® has
deployed the system to over seven hundred member sites,
both domestic and international. LINK Interchange®
has also deployed Lexcel Triple DES enabled Test Systems
throughout the United Kingdom. Domestically, Concord
EFS continues to certify internal systems using the
Lexcel TestSystem in multiple interface formats.
Triple DES functionality has now been incorporated
into the entire Lexcel TestSystem suite. Triple DES
functionality is available on request in Lexcels
device specific NCR, Diebold, Fujitsu and Triton ATM
TestSystems, as well as our Stress and Capacity testing
systems.
